An expert adaptation of Tennesse Williams' critically acclaimed play. Geraldine Page excels as a former movie queen whose career has given way to achohol and compromise. Searching for seclusion, she arrives in a small Southern town accompanied by ne'er-do-well hometown boy Chance Wayne (Paul Newman). Ed Begley won an Oscar for his powerful portrayal of the town's corrupt boss who has it in for Chance.
