Hamlet (Hawke)

Shakespeare's tragedy is turned into a modern morality tale with Ethan Hawke as the title character, now an angry film student suspicious of widowed mother Diane Venora's quick marriage to his creepy uncle, new CEO of the Denmark Corporation, Kyle MacLachlan. Director Michael Almereyda ("Nadja") sets his film in high-tech Manhattan and even places the "To be or not to be" soliloquy in the "Action" section of a seedy video store. Julia Stiles, Bill Murray and Liev Schreiber also star.
