Lagaan

Aka 'Lagaan: Once Upon a Time in India'. In 1890s India, drought-plagued villagers are faced with paying extraordinarily high "lagaan", or land tax, to their British rulers. A cruel military commander offers them freedom from taxation - if they can defeat his men in a cricket match. Now it is up to a rag-tag group, led by a rogue-ish peasant to learn the Brit's game... and beat them at it. Engrossing blend of drama, comedy, romance and song stars Aamir Khan, Rachel Shelley and Gracy Singh.
