Lord Mountbatten: The Last Viceroy

August the 14th, 1947 marked the beginning of the end for the British Empire - India became independent and Pakistan was born. The seemingly impossible task of bringing about Independence fell on the shoulders of a remarkable man, Lord Louis Mountbatten. Faced with a group of hugely influential and charismatic men - Pandit Nehru, Mohammed Ali Jinnah and Mahatma Gandhi - he had to find a way to resolve irreconcilable differences and formulate a plan for Partition agreeable to all parties. This mini-series stars Nigel Davenport, Nicol Williamson and Ian Richardson.
