Nicholas Nickleby

Beautifully realized filming of Charles Dickens' novel by Douglas McGrath ("Emma") tells of the adventures of 19-year-old Nicholas (Charlie Hunnam), sent to live with his avaricious Uncle Ralph (Christopher Plummer) after his father dies. Nicholas is given a job as an assistant at a decrepit boarding school, but decides to leave the hellish place with a student (Jamie Bell), with hopes of finding a better life in 19th-century London. Jim Broadbent, Edward Fox, Nathan Lane, Juliet Stevenson, Romola Garai and Barry ('Dame Edna') Humphries also star.
