The Passion of the Christ

Likened to a snuff movie by some critics for its sustained brutality, director Mel Gibson's impassioned religious biopic chronicles the last 12 hours of Jesus' (James Caviezel) life, from his despair over the betrayal by the apostle Judas and his appearance before Pontius Pilate, to a harrowingly depicted journey up Golgotha and his subsequent crucifixion. This highly controversial, yet enormously successful, production co-stars Monica Bellucci, Maia Morgenstern, Sergio Rubini.
