'Topper' (1937) stars Cary Grant and Constance Bennett as George and Marion Kerby, a fun-loving couple who cap off an evening of jazz and champagne by running their car into a tree. Finding themselves in limbo as ghosts, and deciding that heaven is just one good deed away, they turn their attention toward their dull friend Cosmo Topper. But Topper is one stodgy banker, and it'll take all the high jinks the Kerby's can muster to haunt Topper into living it up. 'Topper Returns' (1941) sees Cosmo again tormented by a mischievous spirit. This time it's the beautiful Gail Richards, accidentally murdered while vacationing at the home of her wealthy friend, Ann Carrington, the intended victim. With Topper's help, Gail sets out to find her killer with the expected zany results.
