Somersault

Heidi (Abbie Cornish), starved of true affection, looks to short-lived sexual encounters for the physical and emotional contact she craves. After a confrontation with her mother, she flees Canberra for the snow resort town of Lake Jindabyne, because she once met a man from there who said she should call him if she was ever in town. When that connection doesn't materialize, Heidi is forced to fend for herself with little money... This vivid and touching story made a clean sweep of the AFI (Australian Film Institute) Awards in 2004 to win in all 13 film categories - the first time this has ever occurred in the award's history. Co-starring Sam Worthington, Lynette Curran. Music by Decoder Ring.
