Candy
Wannabe poet and intravenous heroin user Dan (Heath Ledger) is freshly in love with Candy (Abbie Cornish), a blonde Botticelli angel with a yen for painting and a burgeoning drug habit. This dark, and at times, disturbing Australian drama is reminiscent of 'Requiem for a Dream' with the all-consuming love between Dan and Candy at the epicentre. Geoffrey Rush is excellent as a chemistry professor who eggs the couple on, and Tony Martin and Noni Hazelhurst are Candy's distraught parents. Based on the novel by Luke Davies who also co-scripted.
