Memoirs of a Geisha

Adapted from Arthur Golden's best-selling novel, nine-year-old Chiyo is sold into servitude at a geisha house in 1930s Kyoto. However the head geisha (Gong Li) is jealous of her, abusing the girl at every opportunity until she finds refuge with the district's most celebrated geisha, Mameha (Michelle Yeoh). Under her loving guidance, Chiyo blossoms into the renowned Sayuri (Ziyi Zhang) who can have any man she wants, but can she have the man she loves? And as World War II approaches will everything she's learnt be swept away with history? An all-star (and controversially, Chinese) cast speak English through-out.
