Favela Rising

Anderson Sa grew up in the slums, or favelas, of Rio de Janiero. Tormented by the murders of his family and many friends, this former drug trafficker turned social revolutionary and founded a musical group called AfroReggae. This award-winning documentary follows him as he brings the rhythms of hip-hop and Afro-Brazilian dance to the kids on the streets, encouraging them to counteract the drug-fuelled violence and corruption rife in their community.
