Send a Bullet ( Manda Bala )

Brazil is rife with crime and corruption at all levels of society; Jason Kohn's award-winning documentary examines several of the more imaginative ways this corruption has manifested itself. Subjects include a plastic surgeon whose practice is dominated by kidnapping victims whose ears were lost to their captors; a political figure whose frog ranch is a cover for illegal business that has made him a multi-millionaire; and an auto customiser whose specialty is bullet-proofing luxury cars. Artful direction and a peppy Brazilian soundtrack lend gloss to subject matter that alternately repels and fascinates. Winner of the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance.
