The Miracle Of Bern

Filmmaker and former professional footballer Sonke Wortmann directs this family sports drama, using the backdrop of the 1954 World Cup game between Germany and Hungary that helped reinvigorate the spirit of a nation crushed by war. Young Matthias is football-crazy, but his father, whom he's never met, returns after 12 years in a brutal Soviet POW camp and does not approve. But his son's passion and enthusiasm eventually help him rediscover his love of life in this heart-warming and funny story of hope.
