Idlewild
Andre Benjamin and Big Boi (both from hip-hop band Outkast) star in this raucous, larger-than-life action/comedy/musical set in prohibition-era Virginia. Two young men look set to follow in the footsteps of their fathers - undertaking and bootlegging - until they are caught up in a frenzied whirlwind of music, gangsters, love and a talking whiskey flask! What this may lack in regular narrative it more than makes up for with vibrant energy, wild music and a bold, kaleidoscopic style. A diamond-studded cast includes Terrence Dashon Howard, Ving Rhames, Macy Gray, Patti LaBelle and the great Ben Vereen.
