La Notte ( The Night )

Michelangelo Antonioni's stunning follow-up to 'L'Avventura' explores similar themes of relationship dysfunction and the search for unattainable passion, with Monica Vitti as the third point in a downward-spiralling love triangle alongside Jeanne Moreau and Marcello Mastroianni. Starting out slowly, the pace picks up when Vitti's character is introduced, building to a powerful conclusion. An early classic from the Italian master of mood.
