Music and Lyrics
Hugh Grant plays aging '80s boy band icon Alex Fletcher, desperate to re-invigorate his now non-existent career. When hot young thing Cora Corman (Haley Bennett) wants him to write a song for a duet together, Fletcher will have to think fast. Because he's never written a lyric in his life. Enter quirky plant-lover Sophie (Drew Barrymore) who has a way with words, and a bad break-up in her recent past. The combination of charming commitment-phobe and naive goofball gal isn't exactly a new one in the romantic comedy stakes, or a stretch for either of the leads, but both have enough charisma to pull it off one more time.
