David Copperfield

Director Cukor assembled a fine cast to portray the assortment of characters that populate Charles Dickens' epic novel, the original title of which was 'The Personal History, Adventures, Experience, and Observation of David Copperfield the Younger of Blunderstone Rookery (which he never meant to be published on any account)'. One of WC Fields' most famous roles was originally intended for Charles Laughton. Other famous faces include Lionel Barrymore, Maureen O'Sullivan and Basil Rathbone, with young Freddie Bartholomew in the lead role.
