Daniel Day-Lewis is Jack, an ex-political activist who lives with his daughter Rose (Camilla Belle) on what was once a thriving island commune. Jack has sheltered Rose from the outside world, and they are very close, but now she is sixteen and Jack's health is failing, he invites his mainland girlfriend (Catherine Keener) and her two sons to live on the island with them. Torn between her feelings of invasion and overwhelming teenage lust, Rose becomes confused and rebellious. With Paul Dano, Ryan McDonald and Beau Bridges as an unwelcome developer. Written and directed by Rebecca Miller, wife of Day-Lewis and the daughter of playwright, Arthur Miller.
