Lonely Hearts

Based on the story of real-life 'lonely hearts killers', Martha Beck and Ray Fernandez, who left a bloody trail of murdered, mostly elderly women, across America, whom they first fleeced of their fortunes during the 1940s. John Travolta plays cop Elmer Robinson, who gets on their trail with partner James Gandolfini. Salma Hayek and Jared Leto are the notorious murderers in this well-made, noir-ish drama-thriller, directed by the grandson of the real Elmer Robinson. The film is reasonably faithful to the horrific facts, aside from the un-Hollywood figure of Martha, who was in fact obese, at over 200 pounds.
