Master of the French farce, Francis Veber, combines wacky slapstick with quick-fire dialogue in this tale of marital deception, as the ubiquitous Francois Pignon (this time played by stand-up comic, Gad Elmaleh) becomes the hapless pawn in a game of infidelity. When rich industrialist Pierre (Daniel Auteuil) is snapped by photographers with his supermodel mistress in a hotel lobby, he spins a yarn to his major share-holding wife (Kristin Scott-Thomas) and Pignon, a lowly valet in the wrong place at the wrong time, is paid a healthy sum to have the beautiful Alice move in with him til the tabloids get bored. A typically well-oiled, fast-moving comedy from Veber that proved a favourite with kiwi festival-goers.
