Zodiac
In the late 1960s, Northern California was gripped by fear as a serial killer haunted the nighttime streets of San Francisco. To this day, the identity of the killer is unknown, though he taunted detectives and the public with letters and mysterious codes left at the crime scenes. Cartoonist Robert Graysmith (Jake Gyllenhaal), reporter Paul Avery (Robert Downey Jr) and Detective David Toschi (Mark Ruffalo) each became intimately entwined in the case over several years and David Fincher's complex thriller is based on the books written by Graysmith about the case. Rising far above the average tele-movie serial killer flick this is a chillingly three-dimensional portrait of fear and obsession. The excellent cast also features Anthony Edwards, Brian Cox and Chloe Sevigny.
