Phillippe Halsman was one of the most famous celebrity photographers of the 1950s, well-known for making his subjects literally jump for the camera; but his story is one of persecution and anti-semitism as revealed in this bio-pic that traces his life back to pre-war Austria where a young Halsman (Ben Silverstone) is wrongly arrested for murdering his father. Lawyer Richard Pressburger (Patrick Swayze) takes the case, knowing the chances of a Jew being found innocent in such an anti-semitic atmosphere is highly unlikely. A landmark moment in the rise of national socialism and a case that would win the attention of such notables as Albert Einstein and Sigmund Freud.
