Elizabeth: The Golden Age

The second installment in a proposed trilogy of the most momentous points of Elizabeth I's life, we now see Blanchett play her as a queen experienced in the day-to-day running of the country but unprepared for upcoming trials. Not only is the Spanish Armada approaching the shores of England, but her Catholic cousin Mary will grab at power while the dashing Sir Walter Raleigh is happy to throw the 'Virgin Queen' off balance to get what he wants. A polished and gripping version of history.
