A raunchy (and controversial) show about family, career and everything else that can go wrong. David Duchovny received a Golden Globe award for his portrayal of Hank, a novelist in a 7-year writer's slump, longing for his beloved New York City but staying in California for his ex-partner (Natascha McElhone) and teenage daughter (an impressive young Madeleine Martin). Hank pines after his ex, but she's now engaged to a reliable, dull new beau and his sexual appetite and hijinks always get in the way of wooing her back. Outrageous and surprisingly touching, 75% of advertisers in New Zealand withdrew their ads for the second episode following a campaign by the conservative lobby group 'Family First' who wanted the series banned here.
