In the Valley of Elah
An engrossing anti-war mystery from writer/director Paul Haggis ('Crash') with Tommy Lee Jones as the father of a recently returned Iraq vet who seems to have vanished into thin air. Charlize Theron is the detective he hires to track his son down in this thought-provoking glimpse into the terrible toll of combat. Jones was Oscar-nominated for his riveting performance as a father and ex-soldier whose discoveries force him to question everything he believes in. Susan Sarandon, Jason Patric and Josh Brolin co-star along with several actual Iraq vets who play soldiers in the film.
