Brian De Palma makes a strong anti-war statement with this chilling documentary-style drama about a group of soldiers who commit a devastating atrocity against a civilian family, all while filming themselves on the Iraqi frontline. Embracing the various forms of technology that allow soldiers to connect with Americans back home including cameras, blogs, YouTube and so forth, the film also comments on the media's portrayal of the war. The story itself is based on a news item about the rape of an Iraqi schoolgirl by wayward grunts at a checkpoint. Reminiscent of De Palma's earlier 'Casualties of War'.
