Since the 1980s, Uganda has been locked in a violent civil war; a war in which children are often snatched from refugee camps or even their homes and coerced into fighting. With this as a chilling backdrop, the children of Patongo Primary School prepare to enter the student music and dance festival held every year in Kampala. In particular the film follows three children who tell their own harrowing stories, and yet still manage to be excited about performing and expressing their creativity. Treading the fine line between exposition and exploitation this film has gathered several film festival awards, and was nominated for a Best Documentary Oscar.
