Eragon ( Blu-ray )
Based on the best-seller by Christopher Paolini (he was just 17 when his family published it) in which a young orphaned farmboy finds a mystical stone and his destiny, as the last Dragon Rider. An all-star cast back up first-time director Stefen Fangmeier (previously a visual effects wizard for Industrial Light and Magic) in this big budget coming-of-age fantasy that failed to pull in crowds at the box office. Jeremy Irons is the grizzled mentor, John Malkovich plays the wicked king and Robert Carlyle is his evil sidekick. Rachel Weisz provides the voice of the dragon and Sienna Guillory is a spunky girl-warrior. A slick kids adventure flick.
