Eric Packer (Robert Pattinson) is a 28-year-old finance billionaire who sets out to cross New York City in his luxurious white stretch limo to get to a hairdressing appointment. His anxious eyes are glued to the Chinese yuan's exchange rate: it is mounting against all expectations, destroying Eric's bet against it. Eric Packer is losing his empire with every tick of the clock. It soon becomes apparent that the city is in turmoil, and Packer's journey is obstructed by various traffic jams caused by a presidential visit to the city, widespread rioting, and several uncanny encounters with his ex-wife. During the course of his cross-town odyssey, his paranoia intensifies and he becomes increasingly certain that someone is trying to kill him. Writer/director David Cronenberg revisits subjects that fascinate him: how the organic and the psychological are inextricably intertwined, society's anxieties and phobias, and letting repressed impulses and paranoia run wild. With Paul Giamatti, Juliette Binoche and Samantha Morton. Based on the novel by Don DeLillo.
