Babel

The director of '21 Grams' has loosley weaved together four stories from three conitinents in this powerful drama about cultural barriers. Brad Pitt and Cate Blanchett are seeing their relationship disintegrate until a tragic accident in Morrocco brings their priorities back into focus. Back home their two children are making an unscheduled trip across the Southern border with their Mexican nanny. A deaf-mute girl in Japan struggles to get past the stigma of her mother's suicide, while a seemingly insignificant incident in her father's past is the crucial trigger of events half a world away. Intelligent filmmaking, riveting and revelatory.
