The Magnificent Ambersons (Blu-ray)

Orson Welles' followup to "Citizen Kane" was utterly different in style and texture, but just as brilliant in its own way. Famously re-edited by the studio while Welles was away on location with another project (the cut footage is long since lost), what remains is a compromised masterpiece which still stands as a work of depth and genius. Adapted from the novel by Booth Tarkington, Welles traces the details of a midwestern family's tragedy. With Tim Holt, Anne Baxter, Agnes Moorhead.
