sex, lies, and videotape

An original, quirky film that won newcomer Steven Soderbergh the top prize at Cannes and captured the imaginations of audiences worldwide. Graham Dalton (James Spader) is a stranger in town who entangles himself in the lives of a middle-class Louisiana couple, upsetting the frigid balance of their lives. This low-budget indie, written by Soderbergh in just eight days, was almost solely responsible for the resurgence of independent cinema in the early nineties, with production companies scrambling to find 'the next big thing' following this film's unexpected box-office success.
