The Believers

Suspenseful occult thriller with Sheen as a New York therapist whose counselling of a disturbed policeman leads him into a series of bizarre and gory ritual slayings. Director Schlesinger creates a chilling atmosphere as he juxtaposes a menacing New York City with the tribal rituals of the voodoo ceremony Santeria. It may be interesting to note - this film was required viewing for police who busted a cult practicing the same sort of thing in California.
