In a gentle, G-rated change of pace that still features his trademark fascination with rural American quirkiness, director David Lynch recounts the true story of 73 year-old retiree Alvin Straight (the late, great Richard Farnsworth). Upon learning his estranged brother has suffered a stroke, and himself unable to drive a car, Straight loaded up his riding mower and set out on a 300 mile trek to Wisconsin to see his sibling and make amends. Sissy Spacek, Everett McGill and Harry Dean Stanton also star.
