The grand Peter O'Toole plays a weathered old curmudgeon in this hilarious and touching story of an aging actor taking a young woman under his wing. Maurice (O'Toole) and his best friend Ian spend their days listing ailments and medications until Ian's 20-something niece moves in and Maurice is inspired to remember and impart the zest and zeal of his life thus far. A beautiful film, never heavy-handed or morose thanks to superb performances and the usual fantastic writing of Hanif Kureishi ("My Beautiful Laundrette", "The Mother").
