Billy Crudup plays a well-meaning but drug-addled young man whose trip across the back roads of 70's America with fellow addict and girlfriend Samantha Morton leads to meetings with a variety of quirky characters, tragedy and, ultimately, redemption. Based on Denis Johnson's collection of short stories, New Zealand director Alison Maclean's ofbeat comedy/drama also stars Dennis Hopper, Holly Hunter and Denis Leary.
