The Mists of Avalon
Magnificent adaptation of Marion Zimmer Bradley's feminist fantasy novel takes a look at the women behind King Arthur's throne and the battle between pagan beliefs and Christianity in 7th century England. Anjelica Huston is Viviane, "The Lady of the Lake", a pagan princess who teaches niece Morgaine (Julianna Margulies) how to influence King Arthur in order to save paganism. Causing trouble is Morgause (Joan Allen), Viviane's power-hungry sister. Caroline Goodall, Michael Varlan and Samantha Mathis also star in this lavish saga.
