Before Night Falls

"Basquiat" director Julian Schnabel brings to the screen another doomed creative genius on the fringes of his society - gay Cuban poet Reinaldo Arenas, in this moving bio-drama. Javier Bardem stars as Arenas, whose work was inspired by the fervor of Castro's revolution, but who faced persecution and jail for his sexuality before escaping and coming to America in the 1980 Mariel exodus. With Olivier Martinez, Andrea Di Stefano, and cameos by Sean Penn and Johnny Depp (in a dual role).
