In-name-only remake of the 50s drive-in chiller stars Rufus Sewell and Carla Gugino as carnival hucksters in early 1900s Ireland who rob a man of his prize possession - a live mermaid - and set out on a boat to make their fortune in America. This mermaid, though, is no gentle singing creature, but a bloodthirsty beast who starts preying on the ship's crew!
