The Affair of the Necklace
Set in the late 18th-century court of French King Louis XVI, this sweeping, fact based historical drama stars Hilary Swank as Jeanne De La Motte Valois, a countess whose rank has been stripped because of her late father's politics. In order to regain her status, Valois hatches a plan involving the theft of a priceless necklace, then recruits an immoral cardinal (Jonathan Pryce), her randy lover (Simon Baker), an Italian count (Christopher Walken) and her philandering husband (Adrien Brody) to join her in carrying out this scheme.
