In 1984, at the height of the Ethiopian famine, Israel put 'Operation Moses' into effect where they airlifted over 8000 Jews from the afflicted region. A twelve-year-old non-Jewish boy is taken in by a Jewish woman and he escapes to Israel where he is taken care of by a loving family and renamed Schlomo. But through his childhood the weight of his deception is heavy and he longs to see his mother. This brave, engaging and uplifting film traces ten turbulent years in Israel's history through the eyes of a young outsider who grows to be a man.
