A Pakistani engineering student is inexplicably snatched off a Paris street and interrogated for potential terrorist activity. Whether he was dangerous before he was caught, he is now fanatically charged to lash out at those who inherently distrust him based solely on how he looks. Becoming part of a suicide bomber cell he finds himself based in New York, staying with an Americanized Pakistani family who have no idea of his true intentions; but as the pressure goes on he finds himself questioning his motives and his conscience. Hauntingly topical and with a seldom-seen perspective on the 'war on terror' from writer and star Ayad Akhtar.
