The Natural History film unit, based in Dunedin, has been making award-winning nature documentaries for three decades, now some of their most enthralling films are available on DVD. This collection of three winter-themed films includes 'Solid Water Liquid Rock' (1994) - a rare expedition to Mt Erebus that shows the world's stunning southernmost volcano as you have never seen it; 'The Crystal Ocean' (2000) highlights the extraordinary event that takes place every year in the seas surrounding Antarctica, as the chill of a six-month night envelops the frozen continent, turning the surface of the surrounding sea to solid ice; and 'The Longest Night' also chronicles the devastating hardship of an Antarctic winter.
