The Mission

A Jesuit mission in the jungles of Brazil is threatened by greedy merchants and political factions within the church itself, in the late 18th century. A film of great beauty and power with Jeremy Irons as the beleaguered missionary and Robert De Niro as the slave trader who switches sides. Written by Robert Bolt ("A Man For All Seasons"), directed by Roland Joffe ("The Killing Fields") and featuring a superb, award-winning score by Ennio Morricone.
