Workingman's Death

A majestically elegant, and somewhat romanticised, study of the nature of work in the 21st century focussing on some of the most gruelling jobs on Earth. Michael Glawogger's follow-up to 'Megacities' takes us from coal-miners in the Ukraine, to Indonesians scraping sulphur from the edge of a volcano; from the outdoor slaughterhouses of Port Harcourt in Nigeria, to the desolate ship-breaking yards on the Pakistani coast. The stunning imagery, along with a score by John Zorn, tell most of the story with little need for dialogue, as these indomitable workers go to hell and back each day.
