Darwin's Nightmare

Winner of the European Film Awards' Best Documentary and nominated for an Oscar this stunning film looks at the havoc wreaked on Tanzania's people and economy after Nile Perch were 'introduced' into Lake Victoria in the 1960s. The voracious fish promptly began to eliminate indigenous species while foreign investors made a killing selling filets to Europe. Weaving together multi-nationals, the World Bank, arms traders, struggling local fisherman and the homeless and dispossessed children of Tanzania this is a wicked portrait of all that's wrong with globalization.
