This collection contains a selection of sterling performances from Oscar-winning actress Dame Judi Dench, including: 'Talking to a Stranger' (1966) based on a 'typical' family's cathartic weekend through four different perspectives; 'Keep an Eye on Amelia' (1973) in which a woman poses as a man's fiancee so he can claim an inheritance; 'Make and Break' (1987) about a businessman who puts his job ahead of his family; 'Absolute Hell' (1991) is a lost-souls black comedy starring Dench as the proprietor of a bohemian nightclub in post-World War II London; 'Can You Hear Me Thinking' (1990) has parents Dench and Michael Williams trying to cope with their schizophrenic teenage son; in 'The Cherry Orchard' (1981) Dench assumes the role of the irresponsible aristocrat; 'Ghosts' (1987) stars Dench as Mrs Alving, whose respected late husband led a dark, secret life; and 'Going Gently' (1987) sees her as a hospice nurse to two adversarial patients.
