The Savages

Laura Linney and Philip Seymour Hoffman play estranged siblings who are forced to deal with each other when their elderly father's dementia proves too much for his girlfriend. Nominated for a slew of film festival awards worldwide, this bittersweet comedy-drama also received an Oscar nomination for Best Writing. Linney and Hoffman are on typically brilliant form in the hands of writer/director Tamara Jenkins, bringing a nuanced realism to their characters that is irresistibly believable.
