A disturbingly brutal depiction of a lonely, unstable New York City cab driver (Robert De Niro) who stalks a presidential candidate, then turns his violent obsessions towards the ruthless pimp of a 12-year-old prostitute (Jodie Foster) with whom he has struck up an unlikely friendship.
