Vigil / The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey / A State of Siege

A Vincent Ward double feature. 'Vigil' (1984, 86 mins) Director Vincent Ward supplies a striking visual atmosphere in this rural melodrama about life on the farm through the eyes of Toss, a young girl who trudges through the mud in ballet costume and gumboots. Stars Penelope Stewart, Frank Whitten. 'The Navigator: A Medieval Odyssey' (1988, 87 mins) 1348 - The Black Death is sweeping through Europe and a young boy has visions as to how the village he lives in can be spared from the Plague. Along with his older brother and other men from the community, they tunnel through the earth to arrive in Auckland of 1988. Once there they must place a cross on top of a Cathedral spire as an offering to God. All the while on this journey he has visions of one of them dying at the Cathedral... One-of-a-kind visual experience from the director of 'Vigil' and 'Map of the Human Heart'.
